Erik Pietzka

Your Practitioner

Hello, I’m Erik lead acupuncturist at NHFC in Cardiff. I’ve held an interest in fertility ever since studying human physiology many years ago at University. I was fascinated at the complex interplay of the hormones of the brain and ovaries which led to an egg being released every month and the physiological processes that leads to a new life.

Years later when studying for my acupuncture degree I was once again drawn to fertility, this time due to the unique ability of acupuncture to improve the chances of people struggling to conceive. I’m lucky enough to have specialised in this field since qualifying in 2009 and am very experienced in helping people cope better with the emotional trauma that goes with fertility issues. I am always fascinated at how acupuncture helps to deal with my patients’ stress and anxieties, to better prepare their bodies to ovulate, conceive and support a pregnancy. At NHFC we also work with people undergoing fertility treatment like IUI, IVF or ICSI helping them to good outcomes and stay stress free in the process. We have worked closely with The London Womens Clinic in Cardiff over the years.

My background in western science mean that understanding western diagnosis, hormones and the action of fertility drugs, is easy for me. I take these complex processes and translate them into effective acupuncture protocols that treat each individual in a unique way. It’s not just male and female fertility I specialise in but also gynaecological complaints in general including menopausal symptoms. You can see a full list on this site of conditions we treat.

Over the years we have helped many people to have the baby of their dreams and have captured some of these testimonials on this website. Why not give us a call and we can discuss (“with no obligation”) how acupuncture can help you.

Lucy Wilson

Your Practitioner

Hi, I’m Lucy Wilson (MBAcc, Lic Ac) and have recently relocated to Cardiff and joined the AcuTy team. Acupuncture has been in my life for over 20 years, originally when my older sister started training to be an acupuncturist and used me as her practice dummy! I was amazed that even at her training stage she was able to help with ailments I had such as ear infections, stopping a cold develop and whatever else I seemed to have at the time.

I continued to using acupuncture regularly and finally realised that I was unhappy with my job as it just wasn’t ‘me’ and should follow my sister into the acupuncture world. This turned out to be the best decision I have ever made as I wake up every morning looking forward to the day ahead instead of dreading it!

Like Erik, I studied at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading learning a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element acupuncture which gives the advantage of being able to treat many emotional, physical and mental symptoms as well as a person’s underlying constitution. Also like Erik I am a full member of The British Acupuncture Council.

Other treatments that I may use include during treatments are cupping, electro-acupuncture, moxibustion, Guasha and Tuina if deemed necessary.

Deirdre Davies (MAR, MARR, MFHT)

Your Practitioner

Hello. My name is Deirdre and I have been a Complementary Practitioner since 2006. I come from the heart of Ireland, and have lived and worked in South Wales since 2003.

Although I have gained a huge amount of experience in many different fields over the years, my speciality lies firmly within the realms of Reproductive, Fertility and Maternity Care. I have experienced first-hand the confusion, frustration and emotional turmoil associated with fertility issues, and strive to provide not only a place of calm and a genuinely caring listening ear, but also a combination of therapies that are specially designed to enhance your own natural fertility by helping to bring your body and your hormones back into balance, as well as working alongside you before, during and after any medicated cycles. Reproductive Reflexology (Reproflexology ™) and Fertility (abdominal) Massage help to create the most receptive environment for your body to conceive, and maintain your pregnancy. They also provide much needed support during what may be a challenging and potentially isolating time.

I also hold a post-grad qualification in Advanced Maternity Reflexology having trained with Jenni Tribe using the teachings and of Suzanne Enzer, a lady considered to be the founding member of maternity reflexology due to her knowledge and experience as both a midwife and a mid-wifery reflexologist. I can treat and support you throughout each stage of your pregnancy – from conception up to birthing, and during your post-partum period.

It is a great privilege to provide care and support for any women wishing conceive, continuing that treatment of care and support throughout her pregnancy, and completing the journey by teaching the new parents and guardians how to soothe and massage baby.

Qualifications

I am accredited to The Association of Reflexologists (AoR)The Association of Reproductive Reflexologists (ARR) and The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT)and follow the code of ethics and the strict code of conduct as outlined by each governing body. I am fully insured to treat you.

I am also a member of the Complimentary and Natural Health Care Council (CNHC) – an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care for complementary therapists.

Stephanie Blake (PRM)

Your Practitioner

Hi, I’m Stephanie. I trained as a reflexologist here in Cardiff at Inspira reflexology, one of the first centres in the UK to award the level 5 practitioner qualification in Reflexology. The course is based on a progressive style of reflexology called Duopody that works on both feet at the same time, helping to make the treatment more balanced and effective; the technique often has profound and rapid results. The course also included training for specific conditions, such as reflexology for: palliative care, stress, spinal problems, pre-natal and pregnancy, and Advanced Reflexology Technique (ART).

Towards the end of 2010 I had my first reflexology session. I had been working in the field of equality and human rights for over ten years and it was an incredibly stressful time for me, something that affected my health and well-being. I felt the benefits from the very first session, and, as I began to have regular treatments and learn more and more, I knew that I wanted to train to be a reflexologist myself. Less than 9 months after I first had reflexology I began my training. It signified a massive turning-point in my life: not only did I qualify to be a reflexologist, but shortly after I finished my training I moved to Spain.

I have a special interest in working with fertility. During the four and a half years I spent in Spain, together with my reflexology clinic, I spent time working in a gynaecology and fertility clinic. Having seen the conventional side of treatment for fertility, I know that reflexology has a valuable role to play, and I have encompassed this medical knowledge into my treatment practices as a reflexologist.
