Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
- Reflexology is a healing therapy based on the principle that all body systems are represented on the feet and hands in the form of specific reflex areas.
- As the body is mapped on the feet, it is therefore possible to treat the whole body by applying specific pressure to various parts of the feet.
- A condition or an illness is an imbalance in the body, a blockage in the energy channel.
What is the Treatment?
A professionally trained reflexologist will feel for congestion and tension in the areas and stimulate these reflex areas using gentle massage techniques. This will help to reduce blockages in energy pathways, encouraging the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.
How can reflexology help?
Many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body, but the therapy can offer much more than this.
A reflexologist will not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe, but the therapy has been shown to be effective in the treatment of:
- Hormonal imbalance
- Fertility problems
- Back pain, migraine
- Arthritis, sleep disorders
- Sports injuries
- Digestive disorders
- Stress related conditions
Many doctors, consultants and other health professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy.
